چکیده
CriticalCareNurse Vol 29, No. 5, OCTOBER 2009 45 C ongenital complete atrioventricular block (CCAVB) occurs from fetal age to young adulthood in a person who has had no other cardiac arrhythmia detected before the heart block and no other history or signs and symptoms of generalized disease. In this article, I present the etiology of CCAVB, risk factors, electrophysiology, pathophysiology, clinical features, diagnostic test findings, treatment, a case study, implications for nurses, and teaching topics for patients with pacemakers. Increased awareness of suspecting an atrioventricular heart block, in children and young adults undergoing a physical examination or who are hospitalized for unrelated problems and then Congenital Complete Atrioventricular Block in a Young Man: A Case Study

Second-degree Atrioventricular (Mobitz 1) Heart Block in a 52-hour-old Newborn: A Very Rare Case Report
Background: Cardiac conduction disorders are rare syndromes in neonates and children. According to the literature atrial septal defect, especially ostium secundum type, is associated with atrioventricular (AV) block. Wenckebach conduction heart block is very rare in a neonate; however, there is a dearth of research on the prevalence of this type of heart block regarding the neonates and pediatr...
متن کاملTransient Complete Atrioventricular Block in a Preterm Neonate with Congenital Myotonic Dystrophy: Case Report
Congenital myotonic dystrophy (CMD) is an inherited neuromuscular disorder with cardiac rhythm abnormalities that may occur as a child grows. No report has described complete atrioventricular (AV) block detected in a neonate with CMD. We report a floppy infant of 31(+4) weeks gestation with complete AV block at birth, who was diagnosed with CMD by Southern analysis. She recovered from complete ...
متن کاملFatal heart block due to mesothelioma of the atrioventricular node.
A fit young man of 23 was symptom free until the time of his death despite a narrow complex complete heart block, with resting heart rates down to 35 beats/min, that was first diagnosed when he was 10. The clinical diagnosis remained congenital heart block. Necropsy showed extensive infiltration of the atrioventricular node and proximal bundle by mesothelioma tissue. Pacing had not been advised...
متن کاملA Typical Case of L-Transposition of the Great Arteries Initially Presented as Complete Atrioventricular Block in Middle-Aged Man
L-transposition of the great arteries (L-TGA) is a rare congenital anomaly and could cause complete atrioventricular (AV) block at relatively younger age. We present a case of 43-year-old male who complained of dizziness due to complete AV block. We confirmed L-TGA using transthoracic echocardiography and cardiac computed tomography. Permanent pacemaker was inserted without complications. No in...
متن کاملSpontaneous Remission of Congenital Complete Atrioventricular Block in Anti-Ro/La Antibody-Negative Monozygotic Twins: Case Report
BACKGROUND Congenital complete atrioventricular block without any structural heart disease and anti-Ro/La negativity is very rare. Discordant complete atrioventricular block, which is more frequently defined in the literature as an autoimmune mechanism, is much more rare in monozygotic twins. CASE REPORT The 26-year-old healthy mother had given birth in her first spontaneous, uneventful pregn...
